Obesity is a huge problem, and even people who aren’t obese can struggle with losing a few pounds and getting into shape.

Dieting can be difficult. Many people don’t see results when they want to and give up and go back to eating badly and binge-watching television all day.

If you are currently in that situation, take a lesson from Pasquale Brocco.

Three years ago, he was obese, weighing 607 pounds. He ate junk food all the time, avoided stairs, hated to exercise, and had a variety of health problems. Things were so bad that he didn’t even want to leave his apartment.

When a doctor told him that he was prediabetic, suffering from high cholesterol and high blood pressure, and at risk for fatty liver disease, he knew it was time to change. Pasquale was only 27, and if he didn’t change his lifestyle, he might not make it to 30. He talked about his realization, saying:

“It was scary. I didn’t want to die. I was 27. I threw everything out. Everything in my house I threw out … I said, ‘I’m not going to do it no more.’”

He went through his cabinets and started getting rid of all the junk food.

He replaced the junk with healthy options. He also started walking to the grocery store instead of driving there. His trip added up to six miles each day. As a result, he lost 100 pounds fairly quickly.

He was surprised at how easy it was once he started putting in the work. He said:

“It’s amazing because I never walked six miles in my life and I was doing it every day.”

He did sometimes struggle with eating healthy and says he had his fair share of bad days and disappointments. Still, he stuck with it and was determined to get healthy. He said:

“I’m the perfect example that you can. A lot of people aren’t 600 pounds, a lot of people don’t have 340 pounds to lose. I’m no better than anyone. The only thing I did differently is that I started and kept going.”

He started working out and building muscle.

He eventually got down to 7 percent body fat. That’s when he realized he has to do something about his hanging skin. He had over 7 feet of sagging skin that had stretched when he was overweight and was now sagging all over his body.

A plastic surgeon learned about his story and offered to do the surgery for free.

Pasquale had to take some time off from the gym to recover and was nervous about what it would do to his body. He was also afraid people would think that he gave up. He said:

“I didn’t want to fail people. I didn’t want to let them down, because I know I’m helping and changing lives.”

Once he recovered, he was right back in the gym.

He worked hard and was even able to enter a bodybuilding competition. He actually won and went on to enter and win more. He now has thousands of followers on social media. Everyone is inspired by his story and impressed with the hard work he put into changing his life and bettering himself.

He is a true inspiration to others.

He is proud of himself, too. He knows he looks great, but more importantly, he feels great. Now, he knows he will be around for many more years and he can enjoy life and go after the things he wants with confidence. He said:

“If you want to lose weight and get in shape, set a goal, don’t waver, and stick to it until you can say, ‘I did it!’ More than enough reason for me to want to be better! Do it for your kids, do it for your spouse, do it for your loved ones, most importantly, do it for you!”[/imgsrc]
