15 times mechanics snapped pics of what they were dealing with so people would believe them
Good thing they got the proof!

Most mechanics have seen a lot of things in life and, judging by how booked out they always are, you might even think that they’ve seen it all.

But, in the words of Forrest Gump- “Life is like a box of chocolates- you never know what you’re going to get!”

Well, in a mechanics case life is more like a box of random parts, screws, nuts, bolts, and grommets, and they’re never the ones they need. Sometimes, mechanics come across things so unbelievable that they just know no one will ever believe them.

Thankfully, though, they know their way around more than just a car and snapped pictures to prove it. Here are 15 times mechanics had to get proof of what they were dealing with.

1. Let me get my Raccoon

This guy told the mechanic to give him a heads up before he started working on his truck so he could grab his Raccoon. It wasn’t a joke.

When you think of a mechanic, you tend to think of a tough person who can handle their own against just about anything life throws at them. That’s why they’re so good at fixing things, right? Well, not when it comes to possums. Maybe we aren’t giving exterminators enough credit…

3. One million miles

Mechanics hear all sorts of things in life from their customers, but when this one heard his customer say he was going to get his car up to a million miles on the odometer, he had his doubts. Needless to say, he had to snap a pic of the proof when the same customer rolled in at 999,999 miles to replace his tire plug. All he had left to say was “best tire plug ever.”

4. A lucky ride

Some people go their whole lives without ever finding their luck, and the 4-leaf clover that supposedly provides it is just as elusive to find. But, have you checked your fender lately?

5. Taking her chances

Sometimes people like to take their chances in life. But if you’re a mechanic, allowing them to do so can often be a liability. Like this guy who warned a woman that it was unsafe at best to drive with her tire like this. She wanted to take her chances, but after making her sign a waiver and napping a photo of the proof, we’re pretty sure he wasn’t taking any.

6. “I got it like this”

When this rental car mechanic received the car back from the police, it was pretty obvious what happened. Clearly, he got caught up in a “hailstorm” and the damage was not their fault. For some reason, the mechanic was having a hard time believing that.

7. It finally happened

Sometimes, it’s the things that shouldn’t surprise us at all that surprise us the most in life. Like this guy who, after 16 years of writing up auto service reports, finally found gloves exactly where they should be- the glove box. We’re a little in disbelief ourselves.

8. Excuse me miss, erm- your tire has herpes.

We’ve seen sidewall bubbles before but, damn- what the hell are they driving through?! We’re guessing this driver has a real love-hate relationship with the curb outside of their house- this is just insane.

9. They don’t always get the best welcome

Mechanics are everybody’s friend until they hand out the bill. This one never even made it that far, but it wasn’t the customer who treated him crappy- it was the car.

10. Always something new

You’d think with as many people as there are with vehicles breaking down, most mechanics have pretty much seen everything. It’s just not so. This guy thought the customer on the phone was joking when he said he needed breaks and bearings checked on his BBQ. Nope, not a joke. That’s just how they roll.

11. Told you it needed breaks

It’s got to be annoying to be a mechanic sometimes, with people always running their car around on its last leg only to tell you you’re lying or price gouging. We don’t think there was any chance that the customer was going to do that this time, though. They said they needed breaks and the proof was in the pudding.

12. Have you seen my keys

Well, dude, you might be able to find them if you’d lay off the whip-its. Some people think he uses these to inject into the center console but, based on the reason he brought the car in in the first place- we’re thinking he’s got a different problem entirely.

13. Just in case you were wondering

Just on the off-chance you have ever asked yourself what car maker has that absolute worst location for their batteries- now you can give yourself an answer. Yup- it’s a Ferrari. They might be fast, but they’re also a pain in the ass.

14. Some people…

The owner of this car wants a refund for the battery her mechanic just put in. Why? Because of that red line on the speedometer. Apparently, it was never there before the battery was replaced. Apparently, they are also a moron.

15. When invoicing is fun

Have you ever had a car get all Herky-Jerky on you? No? What about honky-wonky? If it’s either of these, you might want to check to make sure your software isn’t ranky-tanky!

Basically, if you say weird stuff to a mechanic, expect to get a pretty strange invoice mildly making fun of you in return.
